Sharon Louise (Sowl) Larson

Sharon Louise Larson, age 76 of The New Glarus Home, formerly of Blanchardville, died on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at the New Glarus Home.  Sharon was born on October 24, 1944 in Monroe to Lee Mound and Emma Louise (Kron) Sowl.  She grew up in the Mount Vernon area, and went to school in Verona, graduating from the Verona High School in 1962.  She met Larry Odean Larson at a dance in Mount Horeb at Club 18. They were married on September 29, 1962.  She raised her family and later started working at the Monroe Clinic in the radiology department.  In 1982 she and Larry purchased the Hitching Post bar and grill in Blanchardville.  They operated the bar until 1994.  She started working as a retail sales manager, managing a variety of stores in Madison.  She retired around 2006.  Sharon loved playing cards, especially euchre, and continued playing at The New Glarus Home after she moved there.  Larry and Sharon loved traveling to Las Vegas.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren, visiting and going to their events.  Around 2017 they moved to The New Glarus Home

Sharon is survived by three sons, Kevin (Heidi) Larson of Monroe, Kurt (Brandy) Larson of Beloit, and Kris (Sandy) Larson of Fitchburg; 5 grandchildren, Liam Larson, Mason Williams, Olivia Larson, Zachary (Jensyn) Larson, and Jennifer (Brett) Skibba; two sisters-in-law, Laura “Lolly” Johnson of New Glarus and Bonnie Sowl of Dodgeville; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Larry who died on November 17, 2018; a brother, Charles Sowl; and her Godson and Nephew David Sowl. 

A visitation for Sharon, with the wearing of masks and social distancing required, will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Blanchard Hall at 206 South Main Street in Blanchardville.  A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at Blanchard Hall.  Rev. Paul Gregersen of the Blanchardville United Methodist Church will officiate.  This will be livecast on the Saether Funeral Service Facebook page for all to participate.
