Stanley Erickson Obituary

Stanley Elmo Erickson, age 82 of rural Hollandale died on Friday, January 15, 2021 at home surrounded by his family.  Stanley had Parkinson’s Disease for over 20 years and died from Congestive Heart Failure.  He was born on February 14, 1938 to Milton and Gladys (Venden) Erickson at home, number five child of twelve, in Waldwick Township, Iowa County, Wisconsin.  When he was a baby they moved to a farm in York Township where they lived and farmed.  He worked  all the years growing up on the family farm with his parents and siblings.  He attended the Tyvand school, and graduated from the Blanchardville High School in 1956 where he really enjoyed playing football.  After graduation Stanley worked at the Pet Milk Company in New Glarus for a while, and then Ingersol company in Rockford, and then became a policeman in Madison and worked for the Madison Police Department for 2 years.  He owned a route for home delivery of milk for Dairylane Milk in Madison for several years until 1965.  At that time he returned to farm on his family farm for the rest of his life, eventually purchasing the farm.   He met Carol Halverson through a sister and dancing.  They were married at the West Wiota Lutheran Church on April 26, 1963.  In 1990 Stanley and Carol stopped milking cows and he worked at Mid-Am in Blanchardville and then Federal Industries in Belleville for seven years.  Stanley loved farming and conservation of the land.  He enjoyed old time Polka music and loved dancing.  He was also a great fan of Ford cars.  Together Stanley and Carol loved traveling the area dancing and seeing family, his children, and his grandchildren.

 

Stanley is survived by his wife Carol; two children, Rodney (Pam) Erickson of Lewis Center, Ohio, and Amy (Scott) Behnke of Winter Springs, Florida; five grandchildren, Alex Behnke of Denver, Colorado, Bret Behnke of Burbank, California, Megan Erickson of Conway, South Carolina, Maddie Erickson of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Michael Erickson of Lewis Center, Ohio; six siblings, Gloria Treuhardt of Belleville, Rae (Earl) Boeshaar of Roswell, Georgia, Frank “Pete” Erickson of Darlington, Terry (Karen) Erickson of Monroe, Linda (Bernie) Bernhardt of Platteville, Wendy (Raymond) Spellman of Darlington; and many other nieces, nephews and family who loved coming to the farm for family get-togethers.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and five siblings, Dwayne Erickson, Marcia Peterson, Milton “Jr” Erickson, Shirley Barth, and Jerry Erickson.

 

A drive through visitation will be held at Stanley’s farm at 588 Moscow Road in rural Hollandale on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 10:00 until 11:30 AM.  Directions will be given on-site for which end of the circle drive to enter.  There will be an opportunity to greet the family with masks and social distancing while staying in your car.  A private funeral service will be held at Blanchard Hall, followed by burial in the York Memorial Cemetery.  Rev. Dan Bohlman will officiate.
